BEENHAM

"BEENHAM, (or Beenham Vallence), a parish in the hundred of Reading, in the county of Berks, 8 miles to the W. of Reading. It lies a little to the north of the river Kennet, and the Kennet and Avon canal. The living is a vicarageAsterisk denotes that there is a parsonage and glebe belonging to 
the living in the diocese of Oxford, of the value of £250, in the patronage of Mr. Bushnell. The church is dedicated to St. Mary. The vicarage was once held by Thomas Stackhouse, author of the "History of the Bible." He died and was interred here in 1752. Near the village are Beenham House and Beenham Lodge.
