"FYFIELD, a parish in the hundred of Ock, county Berks, 5 miles N.W. of Abingdon, its post town, and 10 N.E. of Faringdon. It is situated S. of the river Isis, or Thames, and includes the hamlets of Netherton and Wick. A hospital was founded here about the early part of the 15th century. Limestone is quarried for burning into lime. The living is a perpetual curacy in the diocese of Oxford, value £125, in the patronage of St. John's College, Oxford. The church is a small edifice dedicated to St. Nicholas. There are several tombs and monuments of the Golafre and other families.
