"WASING, a parish in the hundred of Faircross, county Berks, 7½ miles S.E. of Newbury, its post town. The village is situated near the river Emborne. The living is a rectory* in the diocese of Oxford, value £120. The church is dedicated to St. Nicholas. The parochial charities produce about £2 per annum. W. Mount, Esq., is lord of the manor."
